CAMP HILL STATE INFANTS AND PRIMARY SCHOOL AMATEUR SWIM CLUB

The Committee of the Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School Swim Club extend a warm welcome to all parents and swimmers for the 2007/2008 season.

Our emphasis is on the fun, fitness and friendship, which can be achieved through swimming. Each child is encouraged to reach their personal goals, whether it is improvement in confidence, stroke or times.

We have a wonderful coach in Cheryl Rollason and a great atmosphere, which will enhance your child’s progress. We believe that the benefits of swimming often extend well beyond the confines of the pool.

Membership is open to children from Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School and the wider community. We have members from 5 years of age up to 17 years, from many different schools in the district.

The club enjoys the benefits of:

- A 25 metre, 6 lane, gas and solar heated pool.

- A computerised race registration and results system.

The club offers:

- Learn to swim lessons through Cheryl Rollason on a Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Small classes of four children for half hour with qualified instructors. School Holiday Blocks are also conducted.

- Squad training after school from Monday to Thursday and Saturday mornings.

- Friday Night Club.

- Competition through 3 way inter-school carnivals.

Friday nights are Club nights where swimmers can participate in races in all four strokes and a speciality event. Programmed events range from 25 metres and 50 metres to speciality events up to 200 metres. Children compete in races based on time not their age. The aim is to improve on your own best time. Events are timed and recorded.

The committee welcomes family involvement in all areas. We have a canteen and BBQ roster on Friday nights and all parents are asked to give at least one night per season to help out. Don’t be concerned if you are new at this – it only takes a few minutes of instruction and the children love to see their parents at the finish.

Committee Meetings are generally held poolside on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm. All members are welcome to attend these meetings.

This season Club Championships will be held on Friday, 28th March 2008 and the end of season break up and trophy presentation will be Friday, 4th April 2008.

Best of luck to all swimmers for the 2007/2008 season.

A MESSAGE FROM THE COACH

Welcome to the 2007/08 season to all our swimmers. I look forward coaching your children and a special welcome to our new families. I trust you will enjoy your season with us.

Swim Club isn’t just about training and races; it’s about fun, friendship, recreation, building confidence and social interaction. Through swimming children build up confidence and skills to help them through life. My emphasis is on teaching children aquatic skills for their enjoyment and safety. These skills will stay with them for life and may also save a life.

In our training sessions, I teach all four strokes and I would encourage parents to get their children to swim all four strokes on Friday nights, not just those they are most comfortable with. This will also help to make them eligible for the Individual Medley and Club Age Championships.

I encourage you to become involved on Friday nights with the BBQ, time-keeping, canteen and cleaning up - a little bit of help goes along way with the running of the club. This year we are looking at having a few social events for the children – this will help build friendships and teamwork.

I also offer Learn to Swim Lessons for those of you who have young children on a Friday afternoon, Saturday mornings and school holidays. If you have friends and family with young children, please let them know too.

If have any queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to come and see me or ring me on 3823 4698.

Cheryl.

Registration Fees

The Registration Fees for the 2007/08 Season comprise of two parts - a Club registration fee and a QSA/BSA registration fee.

The club membership fee this year is $25.00 per child.

The second component is QSA/BSA Registration. You will notice they have also increased their fees slightly. Queensland Swimming has two membership categories and a fee structure for families.

Category One - Recreational Swimmer $30.00 – you would pay this fee if your child plans to attend squad training, Friday Club Nights and/or participate in 3 way club carnivals.

Category Two - Competitive Swimmer $41.00 – you would pay this fee if your child wishes to compete at external BSA/QSA meets or Invitational meets at other Clubs. You can upgrade during the season is you wish to.

If you have more than two children in the club, the QSA has a sliding fee scale. The third child’s QSA/BSA fees would be $18.00 recreational swimmer or $23.50 competitive swimmer and each extra child after that is $6.00. Parents are also invited to register with the QSA free.
