Aerobics, Dance, Cheer and Glee Schoolaerobics Nationals

We have climbed the mountain and the view looks pretty good up here! Camp Hill is now a force to be reckoned with in all four genres following our stunning successes at Nationals earlier this month. All those rehearsals before school, during breaks, at night and on weekends meant that when we took the stage in whatever we did, we excelled. The students’ performances had the judges in stitches, in tears and in awe.

It started off with a bang on Friday with our Primary Poms, Drills and Dance taking gold in their section and Stella taking silver in her audition. Saturday morning’s opening ceremony was special for us all when Indi, one of our aerobics captains, took the Athlete’s Pledge on behalf of all competitors, a special recognition by Schoolaerobics of the fact she couldn’t compete due to injury. Our audition athletes stole the show – Mia (Gold), Stella (Silver) and Milla (Bronze) – and it only got better from there. Stage 1 grabbed the silver, as did our Primary Littlies, Future Legends and Rebecca and Lauren in their pair; Primary Open B nabbed a Bronze in a tough section and our Stage 2 came fourth by 0.3. Our Primary and Boys teams performed to their best and, whilst not bringing home any “bling”, performed well on stage. Sienna came fifth in her solo to round out a very successful day for our aerobics programme.
Meanwhile, in the other arena, our Camp Hill Glee team was warming up their voices. They took the stage and sang their hearts out, grabbing a well-earnt gold medal. Zali and Sophia joined them with a gold in their duet, showcasing the musical abilities at our school.
Sunday saw the stage resplendent with dances of every style and Camp Hill was represented in every single one of them. We took gold in the Theatrical section with our race day dance full of naughty horses, cheating jockeys and a gigantic fall. This was a special win - our first Theatrical Gold - after entering this category for the last 16 years! We also won gold in Lyrical with a beautiful dance from Cinderella, silver in the Jazz with Locomotion and our Classical team also took out the silver with their beautiful rendition of “Planetarium”.  Special mention must go to our Megatroupe with a massive team of 34 students which gained silver behind the amazing “Sesame Street”.  To top it all off, Sophia G won gold with her downtempo solo. What an amazing weekend, finished off with a celebratory gelato.
Thank you to everyone who made this year a success – our teachers, our coaches and choreographers, the parents who helped in many different ways and the support received from the school community in general.
We will be holding a Showcase of all our teams on Friday, September 1. Stay tuned for more details – it really will be worth putting in your diary.
