Each year our students in Year 3 and Year 5 participate in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life.  It is important to remember that NAPLAN tests are not pass/fail tests. At the classroom level it is one of a number of important tools used by teachers to measure student progress.

NAPLAN complements school assessment and provides nationally comparable data.

The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year, usually in the second full week in May.

NAPLAN tests the four areas (or domains) of:

  •  reading
  •  writing
  •  language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
  •  numeracy

Further information can be found via the Useful links section on the right of this page.  The NAPLAN website includes a range of useful information for parents.
