Children who contract an infectious disease, or who come into contact with another infected child or adult, should remain away from school to limit the spread of the infection.

Some medical conditions require exclusion from school or child care to prevent the spread of infectious diseases among staff and children.

Exclusion Time – For some common infectious diseases:-

DISEASE TYPE EXCLUSION PERIOD
Chicken Pox Exclude until fully recovered or for at least five (5) days after the eruption first appears. Note that some remaining scabs are not a reason for continued exclusion.
Measles Exclude for at least four (4) days after onset of rash.
Mumps Exclude for nine (9) days or until swelling goes down (whichever is sooner).
Rubella (German Measles) Exclude until fully recovered or for at least four (4) days after the onset of rash.

Further information is available from the Queensland Health.

Feel free to contact the school for clarification or more information regarding exclusion due to infectious diseases.
