Principal’s welcome

Welcome to Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School (CHSIPS). We are proud to be an Education Queensland Independent Public School.

In 2006 Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School was established after the merger of the two Camp Hill Schools located on adjoining campuses - Camp Hill State Primary School (established 1926) and Camp Hill State Infants School (established 1951). Our school, combines the proud histories and traditions of two schools that have very deserved reputations for providing excellence in education.

Our school motto Together We Achieve reflects the strong partnerships in our community. As a community, we are committed to encouraging every child to reach their full potential while developing social responsibility and the attributes of Life Long Learners. As a community we support our students to be active learners using the skills of the You Can Do It and Habits of the Minds Programs to support their life choices.

Our Campus provides a safe, supportive and caring environment in which dynamic and robust learning programs are provided to every student. We offer programs that set aspirational goals, scaffolded for success, for all students. Learning goals are pivotal to the success of our programs.

We have embedded an Understanding of Asia across all learning programs and our students learn Mandarin from Year 1 onwards. We are committed to developing our students’ understanding of the interconnected world.

Camp Hill is in the fortunate position of providing Prep to Year 6 learning pathway, set across two distinct campuses. Each campus, Junior (Prep - Year 2) and Senior (Year 3 - 6), have been developed to meet the unique learning needs of the students.

Our school offers a wide range of academic, sporting, musical and cultural programs along with extra-curricular programs of excellence. The CHSIPS Pedagogical Framework is based on the works of Marzano ‘Art and Science of Teaching’ and Jim Knights ‘The Big Four’. This explicit framework is founded on international and national research and has a strong improvement agenda for all students. It aligns with the Australian Curriculum, Curriculum to the Classroom (C2C), and has attributes of Higher Order Thinking embedded in all learning experiences.

Camp Hill provides a raft of programs to cater for diversity, these include:

Our E-Koalas are a group of keen students who work with the teachers to develop the school understanding of sustainable use of resources. Our school has outstanding facilities that include a large multipurpose hall, school of arts hall, 25m heated swimming pool, specialist play equipment, early learning outdoor spaces, cricket pitches, ovals, football field, extensive handball courts, tennis courts and netball courts.

The School has an acknowledged Special Education Program (SEP) that support the learning programs of students identified with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Impairment and Speech and Language Impairment.

We also provide programs for students who identify English as their second language. We have students come from around the world - Finland to Thailand.
