Camp Hill is very proud of the Australian Light Horse (Waler) saddle donated to our school by Dr Young OAM and his family.

The saddle saw war service in the Boer War and in World War 1 (including at Beersheba) before it was returned to Warwick in Queensland.

The Young family donated the saddle and gaiters (worn by Australian Light Horse soldiers) to our school, and they are displayed in the school's Senior Campus administration block.

It is remarkable to think that this saddle travelled across the world, was involved in major battles, and yet returned to Australia. It is an amazing piece of history that we proudly share with our students.

Each year, on ANZAC day, the saddle is moved to the school's ANZAC area for the Camp Hill ANZAC service. I encourage you to take time to visit this very precious piece of history.
