The Step Up program addresses the needs of all students by providing individualised support for learning. Our aim is to provide opportunities for all students to improve academically and to achieve their full potential. The Step Up program relies on a variety of assessment tools including - universal screening, diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring. Data-based decision-making informed by assessments ensures that the right students get the right interventions.  The Step Up program is aligned with classroom teaching sequences and provides additional opportunities for students to practise skills and strategies learned in class.

The Step Up team, of teachers and teacher aides, work alongside class teachers to provide differentiated support in literacy and numeracy across three tiers throughout the school, each increasing in intensity and specificity:

Tier 1: Evidence-based instructional practices delivered to all students.

Tier 2: Provided to small groups in addition to the high-quality instruction received by all students at Tier 1.

Tier 3: Targeted to meet individual learning needs and further intensified by increasing the frequency and length of each session per week, extending the duration of the overall span of intervention, and/or lowering group size.
